Released Cyrus's first soundtrack, Hannah Montana, on October 24, 2006. The soundtrack included eight of the songs that Cyrus performed as Hannah Montana. Cyrus also signed a four-album major record deal with Hollywood Records for her own albums. The album was later re-released twice - a Holiday Edition featuring Cyrus's cover of "Rockin' around the Christmas Tree" and a Special Edition featuring "Nobody's Perfect". Cyrus also opened for The Cheetah Girls in 2006, performing on 20 dates of their 39-city tour.

On June 26, 2007, exactly eight months after the release of the first soundtrack, Cyrus released a double album, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus. The first disc served as the second Hannah Montana soundtrack, while the second disc was Cyrus's debut album as herself. She wrote eight of the ten songs, credited by her birth name Destiny Hope Cyrus.

As of April 2008, Cyrus has been recording her second studio album.In an episode of her web cast show, The Miley and Mandy Show, Cyrus announced she was working on her new album titled Breakout . Cyrus also performed two new songs, "Fly on the Wall" and "Breakout" at the 2008 Disney Channel Games concert. Breakout is expected to be released on July 22, 2008.

Teen sensation Miley Cyrus has never watched American Idol, and the first time she does so could be to see herself perform on it, during Idol Gives Back, the second special episode of the reality series that airs on Wednesday night, April 9.

"I've never seen a single episode... Ever," the Hannah Montana confessed to OK! during the taping of Idol Gives Back Sunday night, April 6.

"I think it's something you have to really get into from the beginning and I just don't have time!" she laments.

The 15-year-old singer, actress, style icon and role model, who is continuing her studies using a private tutor, doesn't get much time to watch TV.

"I did vote for Dancing With the Stars," she says, but only because her father, country superstar Billy Ray Cyrus, was a contestant during that season.

Miley performed two songs for the special episode of American Idol, which aims to leverage the worldwide popularity of American Idol to highlight and raise money for charitable causes.

Some of the other celebrities who appeared on the show were Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Robin Williams, Carrie Underwood, Snoop Dogg and Fergie.
